Our Mission

Resources and events that equip Anabaptists to serve the church

Faith Builders Resource Group is the arm of Faith Builders that coordinates educational efforts outside of the traditional classroom.

The work of Resource Group includes training events and resources for teachers and school administrators. We also serve those laboring in Christian ministries at home and abroad. This takes place at events like REACH, through written materials like school curriculum and articles on current issues, through digital materials and recordings online for educators and others in Christian service, and through hybrid learning programs for those who want to learn and grow while continuing to carry on their responsibilities at home.

Background

The original vision for Faith Builders brought together the resources to train people onsite. This served people who were able to move to Guys Mills for a period of time to study and learn. Faith Builders remains centrally committed to the work of in-person training in a world increasingly turning towards virtual experiences.

But we recognize that it isn’t possible or even desirable for some people to leave their home communities and enroll in the resident programs at Faith Builders, and so the question becomes, “How can some of the same resources and personnel that are being used for the onsite programs also be used to provide learning opportunities and support resources to people who are living and working in their home communities?” The attempt to answer this question has become the work of Resource Group.

Great is the LORD and
most worthy of praise;
his greatness
no one can fathom.

One generation commends
your works to another;
they tell of your mighty acts.

They speak of the
glorious splendor
of your majesty.

Psalm 145:3-5, NIV

Our Programs

In addition to our events and resources, Faith Builders Resource Group has been developing some off-campus courses over the last years.

Elements of Teaching

Enabling schools to provide on-the-job
development for teachers
Are you a school board member or principal that would like to offer better training and support to your teachers? Are you a teacher looking for a way to grow as you teach? This course enables schools to develop teachers. Elements of Teaching explores foundational teaching principles and their practical application in the classroom.

Why is this course needed?

The quality of the education we offer our children is determined primarily by the quality of the teachers we give them. High quality teachers are usually grown, not found.

Training and supporting new teachers is resource-intensive, and school leaders often feel overwhelmed by the task of finding, let alone training new teachers. The lack of training and support for new teachers contributes to high rates of teacher turnover in schools.

Elements of Teaching assists schools in responding to this challenge by facilitating on-the-job training for teachers.

Learning Support Institute

Learning Support Institute (LSI) is a two-year off-campus course of development for learning support teachers. LSI provides an opportunity for learning support teachers to develop knowledge and skills while actively serving in a local school.

Teachers who enroll in the LSI program attend eight in-person events spread over the two years. These events provide opportunities for instruction, training, and networking. In addition, the participants complete weekly tasks and assignments that are designed to develop the learning support teacher’s knowledge, skill, and habits in the field. Each participant is also coached by a learning support mentor on a regular basis throughout the two years.

Servant Institute

Those who have been called to lead churches, schools, and organizations can cultivate their abilities to serve their people effectively. In Servant Institute, we seek to encourage the skills and habits generally present in effective leaders.

Servant Institute is:
  • an opportunity to develop while continuing to serve in leadership
  • weekly reading and development tasks
  • a commitment to a sustained relationship with peers and mentors instead of a short-term training experience
  • a two-year course of development with eight in-person events spread over the course of twenty-one months
  • a mentoring approach to developing as a servant who leads

The goal of Servant Institute is the strengthening and extension of the body of Christ through the work of servants who become better stewards of the resources God has given them to serve in schools, organizations, and churches.

Other Opportunities for Teachers

Teacher development is part of our core mission at Faith Builders. Elements of Teaching is only one of several opportunities for teachers. Use the buttons below to learn more are register for one of these other opportunities.

About Faith Builders Community Learning

As part of the effort by Faith Builders Resource Group to supply resources for local communities, Faith Builders Community Learning provides a hybrid learning platform to offer a variety of off-campus training programs. These programs combine in-person, independent, and digital components. We believe people are best formed through in-person encounters. This means that while we utilize digital technology, we resist merely delivering information and anchor all our programs with presence through seminars or local mentoring.
